Nissin Systems to Distribute Cogent's OPC DataHub
Hardware/software collaboration boosts application
potential for serial-to-Ethernet embedded devices.
Georgetown, Ontario (December 9, 2009) Cogent Real-Time Systems and Nissin Systems
Co. Ltd of Kyoto, Japan, announced an agreement today under
which Nissin will distribute Cogent's OPC DataHub in Japan and
other Asian markets. Nissin has developed software links from
XPort and other devices to the OPC DataHub, allowing
users to connect serial hardware to a wide range of Windows
applications, and share data with them in real
"We are very impressed by Nissin's forward-thinking
management, strong technical capabilities, and well-qualified
sales force," said Andrew Thomas, President of Cogent Real-Time
Systems. "They saw an opportunity to leverage the value of
XPort with the OPC DataHub, and have quickly brought a powerful
solution to market."
The XPort from LANTRONIX is a thumb-sized device that
converts serial data signals into TCP for networking or Internet
connectivity, generating sales of over 2 million units in the
worldwide market. Cogent's OPC DataHub is an integrated tool
that can present live process data directly on an engineer's or
manager's desk in a form most suitable: database, spreadsheet,
or web page. Nissin's success in connecting the OPC DataHub to
XPort means that serial data can now be easily displayed live in
a web page or Excel spreadsheet, logged to a database, or
integrated in with any OPC-based process control system.
"This hardware/software combination opens a new field of
possibilities for our customers," said Mr. Shuichi Kitaura,
Network Solution Business Unit General Manager for Nissin. "Our
agreement with Cogent will allow us to continue providing
enhanced value for embedded-systems data communication."
"We are keen to see this relationship between Cogent and
Nissin grow," said Mr. Minoru Yamazaki, President, LANTRONIX
Japan. "Clearly there is a synergy between these two companies
that will benefit process control engineers in Japan."
