New DataHub release offers a Connection Viewer and livelier response

The latest release of the OPC DataHub has an all-new Connection Viewer that gives you a real-time view into all DataHub connections. You can monitor every data change sent and received, when data points are created and registered, and when data is dropped or blocked by slow or unresponsive clients.

This new release also puts each OPC server connection into separate thread, which means:

  • Better response for multiple clients and servers.
  • Improved connectivity over unreliable networks.

There are dozens of other improvements in this release as well, including additional DataHub commands, easier COM configuration, better connection status reporting, and more web page examples.

View your OPC data on the web--fast

The new DataHub release gives you a fast way to see the live data from your OPC servers, using the DataHub - Table View web page:

To display your own data, all you need to do is enter the domain and data hierarchy in the URL for the page, and your data will appear in the table, with live updates. An introductory web page that comes with the OPC DataHub distribution gives a detailed explanation and examples.

Task Force Tips (TFT), a major US manufacturer of firefighting equipment, recently decided to use the OPC DataHub and Software Toolbox's TOP Server OPC Server to transfer data between a Linux ODBC database and a ControlLogix PLC.

"It is magical what this can do for our application," said Stewart McMillan, President of TFT. "The OPC DataHub and TOP Server allow the PLC to share any data point through ODBC to any database connection. The possibilities that this opens up for real-time connections between PLCs and corporate data processing systems will bend your imagination."
