Cogent Gains New Korean Distributors

Two leading Korean industrial automation software providers plan to market the OPC DataHub and other Cogent products.

Georgetown, Ontario (November 28, 2007) Cogent Real-Time Systems has reached agreements with RT Solutions and Bridgeware to distribute the OPC DataHub and related Cogent software in Korea. Both companies plan to focus on the OPC DataHub's proven ability to collect and redistribute OPC data, while RT Solutions will also offer data connectivity solutions for the QNX Realtime Operating System.

"We are very pleased to have both of these distributors as part of our team," said Andrew Thomas, President of Cogent. "They are in touch with the needs of users in the Korean market. And they each have the broad experience and necessary knowledge in their respective fields to recognize the value of the OPC DataHub and our QNX software in providing robust solutions."

The OPC DataHub gives quick, reliable, and secure access to valuable information direct from the factory floor. It is an integrated tool that can present live process data directly on an engineer's or manager's desk in a form most suitable: database, spreadsheet, or web page. It provides OPC tunnelling, bridging, and aggregation, and has a free API to support virtually any type of OPC connectivity required.

The Cascade DataHub for QNX, along with Cogent's C API and software drivers for QNX, provides a means to collect and redistribute data within the QNX Realtime Operating System. Networking the Cascade DataHub for QNX with the OPC DataHub in Windows creates a real-time data link between the two operating systems. This means that QNX programs can communicate with any OPC-enabled piece of hardware.

RT Solutions offers multimedia, Internet, and real-time operating system (RTOS) solutions to industrial electronics and IT-appliance business partners. Their activities in the RTOS area also include custom development of embedded systems, training, and marketing support for real-time and embedded solutions.

BridgeWare positions itself as a gap-filler between the plant-floor and the enterprise by integrating production systems with enterprise systems such as ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) and SCM (Supply Chain Management). They also deliver software solutions and consulting services on OPC connectivity, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), EMI (Enterprise Manufacturing Intelligence) and High Availability.

Founded in 1995, Cogent Real-Time Systems is the leader in real-time cross-platform data integration between Windows, Linux and QNX. Customers include the Bank of Canada, Cadbury Chocolate and the European Space Agency. Cogent leverages its experience in real-time data communications to provide the next generation of OPC products.
