New Data Logging Interface for OPC DataHub
The OPC DataHub's all-new Data Logging interface makes
it easier than ever to log data from OPC servers to any
ODBC-compliant database.
Georgetown, Ontario (May 15, 2007) Responding to popular demand, Cogent Real-Time
Systems has just released an easy-to-use Data Logging
interface for their OPC DataHub software. Users can now
create and configure database tables to log data from any OPC
server with a few clicks of the mouse. They can trigger the
logging actions according to data change events, alarm
conditions, or timers.
"This interface provides the same reliable connectivity
from an OPC server to an ODBC database that people have come to
expect from the OPC DataHub," said Andrew Thomas, president of
Cogent, "and now the configuration is quick and simple. We've
had a lot of requests for a convenient user interface, and the
initial response to this release has been very positive."
Logging OPC data to an ODBC-compliant database is vital
for engineers and analysts who need to use data from live
factory systems within their corporate manufacturing execution
systems (MES) or enterprise resource systems (ERP). There has
long been a chasm separating production data and management
analytical tools which most forward-thinking managers are
anxious to close.
Combining a robust design with ease of use, the OPC
DataHub gives quick, easy, and reliable access to valuable
information direct from the factory floor. It is an integrated
tool that collects live data from any number of sources, and
distributes it in real time to spreadsheets, web browsers, and
databases. The Data Logging interface supports logging to any
ODBC-compliant database, such as Access, SQL Server, Oracle,
MySQL and many more. An upcoming version of the interface will
offer logging to text files as well.
