New Release of OPC DataHub Improves Integration of Industrial Data

The latest OPC DataHub connects shop floor and top floor - logging factory data to SQL databases, sending email reports and SMS alarm messages, and providing secure networking between remote plant and office locations.

Georgetown, Ontario (October 4, 2007) Cogent Real-Time Systems announces the latest release, Version 6.4 of the OPC DataHub, featuring an all-new data logging interface, the ability to send email and SMS messages, and SSL-encrypted networking of real-time data over public networks and the Internet. This release is the result of hundreds of hours of beta testing and suggestions from a worldwide base of users and distributors. The new version also improves on the OPC DataHub's support for web display of live data using ASP, AJAX and Java technologies.

"This release of the OPC DataHub is just what our customers have been asking for," said John Weber, President of Software Toolbox, the largest supplier of OPC tools in the United States and exclusive distributor of the OPC DataHub in North America. "The secure tunneling capabilities combined with the rest of the features into one solution solves many information integration challenges."

"Now industrial users can experience the real benefit of OPC by gaining complete access to their data," said Ryuji Takeuchi, Assistant Manager of the Engineering Department at Takebishi Corporation, a leading developer of OPC servers and Japanese distributor of the OPC DataHub. "Using the OPC DataHub our clients can interact with their process data from Excel or a web browser, and log the data in a database."

"Our distributors and customers have driven development for this release," said Andrew Thomas, President of Cogent. "Data logging, email and SMS, web access, and secure tunnelling are all highly-requested features. This latest OPC DataHub is a direct response to the needs of control engineers and managers in a wide range of industries around the globe."

The integrated features of the OPC DataHub make it easy to collect and share data from industrial real-time systems. Production engineers can use the OPC DataHub to combine data from many different sources into a common data set and make this available to users in other parts of the company. They can also get immediate email or SMS notifications whenever an alarm event occurs, which means quicker reactions and more informed decisions. Managers can interact with live process data in a web browser or Excel spreadsheet from the comfort of their own office, or receive the latest production reports in regular emails.
